Haiti
Haiti  is a country located on the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean Sea. It occupies the western three-eighths of the island, which it shares with the Dominican Republic. It is 27,750 square kilometres in size and has about 10.6 million people, making it the second most populated country  in the Caribbean.

Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and according to UN statistics, the second most food-insecure nation in the world. Many of the over 10 million Haitians do not have enough food or clean water on a regular basis.

The annual income in Haiti is less than $250 per year. Haitian children grow up in a society of political instability, fears, illiteracy, and poverty. Yet even though they have so many obstacles to face, they live their lives with courage and maintain a sense of dignity. 

CHILD is joining up with staff from Haiti Children’s Home outside Mirabelais in a program to provide Medika Mumba bars (high energy and protein bars) to infants and children up to 14 year olds, who are severely malnourished. CHILD also pays for much needed medication for these children. It is through partnership with CHILD that many more severely malnourished children will be given a chance at a better life, and more importantly a chance at life itself.
