Can you imagine life without water running from the taps? Imagine getting water at a pump daily, then carrying it on your head often for kilometers. Now imagine getting to the pump and the water has run dry, it is hot, close to 50 degrees Celsius and rainy season is still a few months away. There is a household with small children to care for. Just imagine the desperation!
This seems to be the yearly lot of many villagers in Andhra Pradesh..
Thanks for the wonderful response to our request for funds for wells in India on World Water Day.
Five bore wells are in the process of being drilled, one at a time. Careful consideration has been given by Metropolitan Mission to provide wells for the places that need them the most, and there are many villages in need of wells in Andhra Pradesh. The difficult decision was taken after lots of prayer.
The bore well seen above is being drilled in Ibrahimpatnam. They needed to drill to approximately 200 meters to provide plenty of water. The next two drillings will be in places many of us from the CHILD Board have visited. One in Edara and the other one at the Metropolitan Mission's children's home and school. The school children are increasing in number, so more water is needed.
The villagers, children and staff at the school and chiildren's home are very grateful for the renewed hope for fresh , clean water!
