Dear CHILD Board members and CHILD Donors,
Greetings to you from Metropolitan Mission.
Thank you so much for your all-round efforts for strengthening the hands of Metropolitan Mission in India to meet the challenges of socio, economic and unprecedented natural disasters in India. It is opined by scientists that 2018 would be the worst water scarcity scenario in India. Humans and cattle are unable to have sufficient drinking water because the village pools and tanks have evaporated. It is the need of the hour to drill Bore-Wells to a greater depth and quench peoples’ thirst in India today.
Andhra Pradesh might face its most severe test this coming summer, especially in the Krishna Delta. Over 80 per cent of village tanks and summer storage tanks in urban areas are already dry. The authorities are spending sleepless nights since the temperature is between 45 to 50 degrees Celsius. The situation is so grim that coastal areas too are facing crisis. The scenario is expected to be getting worse in most districts in the coming months unless there are some summer showers.
In some places the underground water level has gone down. So there are cases where wells need to be replaced and drilled deeper to reach the water level.
Metropolitan Mission is operating in about six districts of which Krishna & Godavari are the worst affected districts.
There are at least 20 villages where the need for wells is crucial.
Please pray and help us!
