In many countries, especially in Third World countries such as India, schools are built in rural areas in order to give the children who live outside of urban areas the chance to have an education—to learn to read and write—which makes up part of the right of freedom and self determination that every person on earth should have.
Most parents in Third World countries are determined that their children have better opportunities than they had in their lives—that their children might emerge from the dark oppression that poverty brings, and live in the light of opportunity that literacy and education brings.
A school in a rural area is a dream come true for rural families, until there is the horrible realization that the school is beyond their reach—that their children may look from a distance yet not participate. Ten kilometers can determine a child’s future. It is too far for young children to walk
So why are we raising funds to BUY A BUS?
It is to allow those children who live 5 km, 10 km, 15 km away from the Metropolitan Mission School to attend. The current bus is old and too small to accomodate all who need transportation.
This new bus will change children’s lives.
This new bus will bridge the gap of despair that 10 km brings
This bus will bring hope into darkness.
Please come and join us at 5 pm on November 5, 2017 at Narayanni’s Restaurant, 10131 81 Ave., for a fabulous Indian/South African buffet and to learn more about how you can be part of our efforts to
BUY A BUS!!!
If you can’t join us at our fundraiser, please go to
DONATE
and donate funds towards buying four tires or a front and rear bumper or several seats or a number of windows so that the children can look out and see the much brighter future that awaits them.
