Each one of us can make a difference.
                 Together we make change.
                                                            Barbara Mikulski

So much of our world is changing into a world that seems so strange and foreign.
Uncertainty fills each day. Change is followed by more change.

But one thing that will not change are the positive changes that CHILD’s three programs in India, South Africa and Haiti have made in the lives of over a thousand children during the year 2019, due to our very generous sponsors.

Hundreds of children at the Metropolitan Children’s Home and School in Vijayawada, India have received rice and other nutritious food to help their bodies grow and develop as well as to enable their minds to learn better.  The education they received over the past year will impact their lives in countless ways and in the years to come.

The rickshaw that CHILD was able to buy for MM will continue to transport teachers to and from school, and day after day those teachers are able to teach several hundred children, enriching each child’s mind for a lifetime. The rickshaw is also serving as an ambulance to take sick children to and from the hospital.  The impact of not having the rickshaw for this purpose would be very detrimental to the children’s health.  The change that the rickshaw has brought is a change that has enhanced the children’s lives.

Five wells have been drilled to provide  several thousand people in villages with fresh, safe drinking water. Severe drought hits Andhra Pradesh almost every year for a few months when many wells run dry.

The milk program at Slangspuit Elemenary School in Pietermaritzburg made a very positive change to the kindergarten and Grade 1 children.  Children thrived because of the program.  Their learning was accelerated as their bodies grew.  Even though the program has been suspended ,the positive change that it had on these young children has made a difference.

What is also making a lasting difference is the sponsorship of three students through their high school years at Alexandra High School.  These students come from the slums of Pietermaritzburg and these scholarships are their way out of a life a desperate poverty—the change of a lifetime!

Through the Palto Project in Haiti, children who would have died, now live.  Children on the edge of death due to severe malnutrition now live.  Their bodies are healthy and restored to full strength.  That part of their life’s story will never change.  Even though, because of political unrest in Haiti, the hours long trips out to the Palto Project have been suspended until peace prevails.  The nutrition program is now run out of Haiti Children’s Home in Mirebalais and continues to make life changing differences in the lives of over a hundred children.

Some of CHILD’s projects may change, but the effects that its projects have had in the past and in the present, will last into the future.  Our donors have been more than generous in 2019, exceeding our expectations, however, we will need to continue to fundraise in order to keep CHILD’s work vibrant and life-changing.

We move into the coming year awaiting which doors God will open for CHILD, but one thing we know is that God will never change nor will His love for us and … especially His love for the impoverished children whose lives CHILD seeks to touch and bring His blessings into.
