“A drop in the bucket!”
Do you want to make a difference in the world, today?
How about making a 0.003% difference to 163 million people in India?
A “drop in the bucket,” so to speak.
But is a “drop in a bucket” really so insignificant?
Access to clean water is considered a human right by the United Nations.
Yet, there are 2.1 billion people in the world that do not have access to clean water, and 163 million of these men, women and children live in India.
A fact that is horrific is that
IN INDIA, OVER NINE HUNDRED CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF FIVE
DIE EVERY DAY, DUE TO DIARRHEAL DISEASES
DIRECTLY RELATED TO A LACK OF CLEAN WATER!!!
The enormity of these numbers shock us, but then, they leave us feeling helpless and paralyzed as to what we can do in the face of such immense suffering.
But is it really true that we cannot make a difference, even if it is a small difference? Even a 0.003% difference? Making a difference to 5,000 men women and children, living in a small village in India, is, in reality, not a small difference! That is the number of people that 0.003% represents of the 163 million people who live without access to clean water in India.
CHILD, in collaboration with Metropolitan Mission India, is able to drill fresh water wells for about $2,000 each, in rural villages of about 5,000 people.
What does $2,000 translate into when one is dealing with 5,000 people? If you gave each one of these 5,000 people a mere 35 cents, you could make a huge difference in that person’s life, and, in the case of a child under the age of 5, your 35 cents could save their life. Put all of those 35 cents together and you would be able to drill a well in their village.
“Really?” You many ask.
“Really!” I will reply.
To us, 0.003% may seem like just a drop in a very large bucket of those who lack clean drinking water, but for those 5,000 men, women and children in that village in India, that drop is for them, trillions of drops of clean water, in hundreds of thousands of buckets, for years and years to come!!
Please donate today to fund part of a well or an entire well.
$50, $100, $250, . . .$2,000
You can also donate a well in memory of a loved one, and a plaque with
their name on it will be mounted on the well.
You can donate here
We are hoping that the total of all of the donations will, together,
allow CHILD to drill clean water wells
for tens of thousands of men, women and children in India!
