Palto Nutrition Program
The aim of the program is to provide high protein Medical Mumba Bars to severely malnourished children from infant to 14 years old. After 6 weeks of being on the bars, the children are then transferred to Manna Packs, which contain rice that is fortified with a large number of vitamins, minerals, and proteins. Children stay on this for anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the need.
CHILD is actively supporting the Palto Project by buying hundreds of Manna Packs and Medical Mumba Bars.
Funds are needed for the 150 children in the Palto program.
CAD $95 pays for one box of 150 Medical Mumba bars. It takes roughly one box to treat a child.
CAD $13 per box is required for each child per month.
CAD $156 pays for 12 Manna Packs and provides for a child for 12 months.
The arm circumference of severely malnourished children is taken as a benchmark to see how malnourished they are and to measure how they improve after the peanut butter bars.
